Grand Vin De Bourgogne
MEURSAULT 2011
THE EXPERIENCE
Distinguished by, inter alia, its profuse bouquet and voluptuous texture, Meursault represents one of the most captivating styles of white Burgundy, hence also one of the most sought-after. Similarly gorgeous is this composition of vibrant colours and pulsating patterns. Already bound by two – Chinese and French – artistic traditions, Zao Wou-Ki boldly incorporated the contemporary American style at the age of 46. Chardonnay’s analogy of blank canvas is put to the ultimate test, and yet it emerges meritorious with this sensual and sensational Meursault.
THE WINE
Meursault is one of the most highly regarded wine appellations in the world. The wine has a particularly fragrant bouquet, with a charming balance of citrus, honey and white flowers. There are also scents of almond and grilled hazelnut scents in addition to the buttery and mineral scents. It is simultaneously powerful, complex and delightfully elegant.
Serving temperature : 11 to 13°C
Decant 1 hour before serving
Drink now to 15 years
THE ART
10.01.68 – 1968
Oil on canvas – 81 x 116 cm – Private collection
This very beautiful oil painting boldly juxtaposes an orange red and a bright blue. The clash of the colours gives birth to a swirling composition, fast paced in the heart of a wild rhythm. The impact of American contemporaneous abstract painting is obvious in this
canvas. However, to the technique of dripping, he prefers his own technique causing the confrontation of coloured masses.
