Glenglassaugh 41 Year Old Single Malt

A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GLENGLASSAUGH DISTILLERY

AN ICONIC INSTITUTION

The Glenglassaugh Distillery is a centenary institution founded by Col. James Moir in 1875 and located in the heart of the Speyside region, Scotland. Glenglassaugh whiskies are produced using the highest quality Scottish barley and distilled carefully using traditional methods. The key focus is on quality, and so the institution’s spirits are still handcrafted by a small, highly skilled team dedicated to creating the highest quality product. Only the finest casks are selected to slowly mature their precious liquors in coastal warehouses.

A LEGENDARY LAND

The premises are at the east end of the preserved Sandend Bay, so the distillery benefits from the best climatic environment a whisky maker can aspire to have. The fertile land provides top quality barley for malting, the surrounding rivers and burns bring clear cool water and the unique maritime climate of Speyside allows great maturation of the finished product. For over two-hundred years, single malt whiskies from North-East Scotland, and especially Speyside, are recognised globally for their elegance and their aromatic complexity.

THE EXPERIENCE

Yan Pei Ming’s insightful portrayal of Bruce Lee exhibits not only the big-screen star, but also the philosopher-martial artist, whose icon and complexity are a high call for any whisky to reflect, let alone match. Undaunted, this elixir by Glenglassaugh rose up to the challenge with its sublime balance and unfathomable depth. Each sip of this nectar is similar to going through Bruce Lee’s quotes, a tribute to the master who tragically passed away at the young age of 32. For whisky lovers and Bruce lee supporters alike, this is one collaboration that will capture and let their imagination run wild.

THE SPIRIT

Situated at the northeastern corner of Speyside, the Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1875 and intermittently mothballed. The barley for malting is locally sourced, and the newborn spirit is then patiently matured in refilled hogsheads and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, both warehoused along the coast, resulting in a unique Speysider with maritime influences. The haunting nose unhurriedly reveals aromas of grapefruit, melon and marmalade, and the palate delivers an irresistible mélange of fruitcake and Christmas spices, leading to a warm, lingering finish.

Serving temperature: around 16°C

Best served in a tulip-shaped whisky glass with a few drops of mineral water

THE ART

Yan Pei Ming, Fighting Spirit – 2012

Oil on Canvas – 300 x 300 cm

This is one colossal painting, even for someone internationally renowned for his large formats. Yan Pei Ming successfully captures Bruce Lee’s graceful posture and piercing eyesight with bold, silver-like brush strokes of black and white. It is hard to believe that this composition is oil on canvas, as its singular iconicity and rich texture are akin to European woodcut of the Early Modern period. Yan Pei Ming’s masterstroke lies not in vividly depicting the subject-matter’s image, but in displaying the aura of the martial art legend.
