Grand Vin De Bourgogne
“RÉSERVE SPÉCIALE” – NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES 2010
THE EXPERIENCE
Despite its deliberate omission of grand crus, Nuits-Saint-Georges remains one of the most revered appellations in Burgundy, renowned for producing fine wines of great structure, depth and ageworthiness. At the artistic level, symbolising Chinese representative and French abstract traditions, the clash between the sky and sea appears irreconcilable, and yet there is harmony brought by the human factor – the small boat towards the edge. Every bit as intricate and profound is the wine per se, with the signature qualities of Nuits-Saint-Georges such as balance, elegance and potence. This is a pièce de résistance to treasure.
THE WINE
Robust, full-bodied and yet still elegant and fresh like most wines from Burgundy, this very masculine wine is perfumed with scents of cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant. As it matures, it will develop notes of leather, truffle, fur, game and macerated fruits.

THE ART
Collection 2010: Le vent pousse la mer – 2004
Triptych, Oil on canvas – 195 x 390 cm – Private collection
During the creation of this triptych, Zao Wou-Ki looked for three weeks for the place where he would paint the small boat in the painting. Despite its small size, this boat represents the first sign of a voluntary comeback to figurative art, which he had given up since 1954.
