“RÉSERVE SPÉCIALE” – NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES 2012

THE EXPERIENCE

Symbolising the Great Helmsman, the red sun rising in the east is arguably the leitmotif of artistic allegory in contemporary China. Facing towards the sun as do sunflowers is a multitude of smiley yet orderly faces, emanating anticipation and exultation. With warm colours aplenty, this composition is reminiscent of a fine red Burgundy endowed with aromatic spice, silky tannins, supple texture and welldefined structure, not least remarkable ageworthiness. Not to be overlooked is the humorous play of words – red hot as the Chinese sun may be, this fine wine actually originates from the French night (Nuits).

THE WINE

This “Réserve Spéciale” is a rare combination of many treasures from Burgundy. It delivers lovely aromas of cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant and as it matures, it will develop notes of leather, truffle, fur and game. This wine is powerful and elegant, fresh and full-bodied and lingers in the mouth with a delicious, well-built and round aftertaste.

Serving temperature : 15 to 16°C

Decant 2 hours before serving

Drink now to 15 years

THE ART

The Sun – 2000
Oil on canvas – 200 x 280 cm

This painting shows a multiple of enthusiastic individuals, all identical and smiling, facing the sun – the all important factor in any traditional agrarian society, not least a figure of speech for the Great Helmsman.
