Yue Minjun 2012 Collection

THE COLLECTION

This 2012 Collection, by contrast to the 2010 and 2011 vintages, presents Pont des Arts’ first collaboration with a contemporary artist: the globally recognised Yue Minjun. After having worked with the great master Zao Wou-Ki, it was time to discover and expose an artist representing China´s new generation. Yue Minjun’s art is modern, eye catchy and rich with meaning. This time going to Beijing, the founders went to Yue Minjun’s atelier to carefully match each of the paintings to the wines from the Bordeaux and Burgundy regions.

THE VINTAGE

With challenging weather in France, the 2012 vintage produced very small quantities, yet these wines are proving exceptional with a great tannic structure and significant ageing ability in Burgundy and real definition and excellent balance in Bordeaux. This 2012 collection also includes a new appellation, the outstanding Lalande-de-Pomerol, a wine of great elegance and balance.

A SHOWCASE

The engraved, French pine wood casing presents a personal exhibition of the celebrated artist’s work. As you taste the wines, you are showcased with the thought-provoking art of Yue Minjun, from abstract landscapes  to the various depictions of his world-famous exaggerative self-portraits, frozen in laughter.
