Piet Mondrian
THE ICONIC
THE ARTIST
Born in the Netherlands in 1872, Piet Mondrian spent his life between Paris, The Netherlands, London and New York. Shortly after moving to Paris, he was heavily influenced by cubism, however, at the advent of the First World War he returned home where he established his unique Neo-Plasticism style.
THE EVOLUTION
Mondrian’s early works portrayed the world he observed around him, but his finding of Cubism in 1911 guided him toward pure abstraction.
AN INSPIRATION
His paintings became so eminent in the decades that followed that other painters, advertisers, architects, graphic designers, and even high fashion clothing brands worldwide got inspired by his characteristic style.
AN ICON
Piet Mondrian has influenced our society through his impact on both Modern and Post-Modern culture and is widely regarded as one of the most revered artists to have ever lived.
