Grand Vin De Bordeaux

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2015

THE EXPERIENCE

The rarest breed within its species, the black panther is an apex predator of the highest order and of utmost beauty. Sporting a velvety coat and displaying virile vitality, it embodies the epitome of dark, lethal power. Possessing silky tannins, brooding phenolics and a well-built structure, this organic Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is the vinous doppelgänger of the fearsome black cat, uncannily mirroring its qualities, albeit in a benign manner. Conversely, the indisputable stature of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is matched by the rarity of the black panther.

THE WINE

Saint-Émilion and its cadets of Lussac, Montagne, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges are the de facto royal family of the Right Bank. Saint-Émilion is the progenitor of the dynasty, hence its primus inter pares status. A classic Right Bank blend comprising 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is sourced from organic vineyards situated in the heart of the eponymous appellation.
Donning a rich garnet robe, this gem emanates alluring aromas of cassis, clove and spring flowers. The old vines – average 45 years old – deliver pure fruits, unctuous intensity and silky tannins, leading to an elongated finish.

Serving temperature: 16°C to 17°C

THE ART

Yan Pei Ming, Black Panther – 2011
Oil on Canvas – 200 x 300 cm

Lurking in a sombre, obscure background of onyx and silver, the pitch-black panther blends into its surroundings with eerie perfection, betrayed only by its eyesight, piercing and menacing in equal measures. With its signature markings hidden by unusually high levels of black pigment, the apex predator adopts darkness as its camouflage, cutting a feline, ghostly figure. Entirely untamed and displaying primal aggression, the subject-matter is an allegory of the innate force of nature. Transcending mere portrayals, Yan Pei Ming’s animal paintings are an inquest into the meaning of existence and life, suffering and death.
