Zao Wou-Ki 50 Year Anniversary Collection
THE COLLECTION
This collection is the ultimate symbol for the special link between France and China.
50 years ago, in 1964, French President Charles de Gaulle and the Chairman of People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong, initiated the official relationship between France and China building a strong bridge between these two great cultures. The same year the artist Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013) was one of the first Chinese to become a French citizen upon the request of André Malraux, the French Minister of Culture.
A BOND BETWEEN CULTURES
To commemorate this momentous anniversary between France and China, Pont des Arts combined the wines from the two collaborations with Zao Wou-Ki for the 2010 and 2011 vintages. The collection culminates with a specially produced 50 year-old Armagnac “Réserve Spéciale – Beyond Life”, a unique blend of exceptional and rare eaux-de-vie from the best terroirs of the region, aged for a minimum of 50 years in oak barrels.
