Grand Vin De Bourgogne

MAISON DE MONTILLE

Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru “Abbaye de Morgeot” 2014

THE EXPERIENCE

No man achieves sainthood without patient suffering, and no vines bear great fruits without enduring difficult growing conditions. Despite – or paradoxically thanks to – poor soil, Chassagne-Montrachet consistently produces low-yielding yet highly concentrated grapes and wines year after year, in the same way that the pair of Siberian tigers endure the harshest of living conditions – never daunted, they stood their ground with defiance. Beasts they may be, yet the allegory is perceptible.

THE WINE

Chassagne-Montrachet is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most revered wine appellations in the world, renowned for its singularly refined, complex and aromatic expression of Chardonnay with effortless balance and finesse. Made in collaboration with one of Burgandy’s most revered wine makers, Etienne de Montille, this single-varietal Chardonnay effuses captivating aromas of citrus fruits, roasted nuts and white flowers. The delicate yet voluptuous texture of this fine wine lingers on in the mouth, ending with a palpably minerally, saline and focused aftertaste.

Serving temperature: 11°C to 13°C

Drink now to 15 years

THE ART

Yan Pei-Ming, Wild Game: Second Way of the Tigers – 2014
Oil on Canvas – 200 x 250 cm

In the ruthless world of snow and frozen ice, two Siberian tigers remained fiercely defiant. Their gaze as intense and fearsome as ever and, if anything, only hardened by adverse conditions. Such is Yan Pei-Ming the figurative painter’s quest for tragedy in life and death, never satisfied with mere representation, always delving, ever deeper, into the meaning of existence.
